What's Going On In The State

ESA means different things to different people. Here are the top 5 reasons we value ESA:
1. Service
2. Education
3. Friendship
4. Fun and food
5. Leadership and personal growth

If you value these things too, ESA might be a good fit for you. Contact our state membership chair for more information about ESA.

Message from our President

Lighthouse - that could mean light house keeping! Yep, I do light house keeping - almost none; I have 2 ladies who come every other week. I just enjoy being lazy and doing the things I want to do…..whether it is ESA work, hospital auxiliary work, church work or just reading or being on the computer. That is what can happen to you when you get old, ornery and live by yourself! Oh - and I’m also a procrastinator or I would have gotten this to Alicia earlier - oh, well, better late than never.

I do want to thank the Gamma Tau Sisters for a wonderful convention and Vicky for a beautiful installation. However, most of all, I’d like to thank all of my Sisters who attended. How I wish we could get more members to come - and that includes my own chapter. This will certainly date me, but I can remember when we had more members at our state conventions than we have members in the state now!

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could bring our membership back up again? Wendy Lea is Team Membership Chair; I gave her free rein in picking those she wanted to work with her, and she did a great job. I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish this year. HOWEVER - each of us must do our share. I know that you realize that if EACH of us would pledge just one new member, we could double our membership! As I said in the Leadership Workshop, you don’t have to be bosom buddies to invite someone to your chapter meeting. There are people out there whom you know from work, church, other organizations or just acquaintances. Maybe there is a sales person you know, or what about a bank teller? The prospects are limited only by our own hesitancy. So, Ladies, let’s get busy - and remember, we do accept gentlemen now. At IC conventions we have several gentlemen who attend the meetings.

Last Saturday I was in Nashville with Vicky and Patsy Taylor [and later in the day, Janice Cayce and her sister] working with the Opening Day of the Dream Home over there. It was a long day - Vicky got to my house at 6:30 AM and I got home at 9:30 PM. Needless to say, this old gal was pooped! I do want to contact Velva and Kathy Fleming to see if I can help them with the Paducah Dream Home.

Right now I’m looking forward to leaving May 24th and flying to San Antonio to visit friends; then on June 1st I’m renting a car and one of my friends is going to ride with me to Del Rio, TX., to visit my grandson and his family. I’ll fly back on June 5th , getting into Nashville at 9:45 AM, and will be picked up by my daughter-in-law and niece. We plan to check out the Opry Mills Outlet that just reopened following the terrible flood of 2010. Since I don’t have anything else to do - I will be at Beta Nu meeting by 5:30 PM! on the 6th I plan to collapse!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone have a great summer…………..

Love to all - Gloria
